In Their Words

This year, "In Their Words" highlights two special villagers who volunteer at the Opportunity Center. They assist the managers and the computer users in many ways, and their work is much appreciated.

My name is Remiro Chee. I am a person who likes to work with his father at all times and even at home I like to work. When I go to work at the farm I grow yams, sweet peppers, cassavas, plantains and other plants. I help to plant rice, too. I am 14 years old. Farming is fun for me. I work all the time and even when I am in school, I have to work at home or do my homework at all times. Sometimes I love to play football and volleyball with my friends.

I am a person who is good at computers. I am a friend of Connie Burk and I help her at the Columbia Opportunity Center. I have learned so many things about computers and I had classes with my friends, and Connie was our teacher. We learned about software, hardware, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and there were so many things we have learned. Learning about computers is so good for me. I help others do their homework and help them in printing work, even when they are searching things that they cannot find. I like to use the internet every time when I go to the Columbia Opportunity Center. I am making my own web page. Please send me an e-mail. My address is remiro@iaianet.org.

My name is Gilbert. I am 11-years old and in Grade 4. I am the oldest boy in my family and I have one older sister and three little brothers that like to come with me to the computers. What I do, they want to do, too, but sometimes I don't show them, but they still know it so I show them all what I do. Now they know all what I do. I like to use the computers and I like to help in the lab and in my school. When they have problems with the computers, I assist the managers but sometimes I also help by buying paper at the shop. Please write me at gilbertcho007@yahoo.com.
